4 benefits of an industrial platform scale

Whether you need platform scales or not will depend on your industry and what your business does.

However, it's highly likely you will benefit from platform scales being integrated into your operations - and there are many affordable, easy to use options available.

Platform scales are perfect for heavy duty weighing and Marsden’s platform scales are strong and durable with a choice of capacities which means they can be tailored to your needs.

What are the benefits of Industrial Platform Scales?

Suitable for a range of industries

Some users will simply want to check the weight of what comes and goes out of their facility; others will need to count the exact number of items in a consignment or need product proof of weight for transportation overseas. Industrial platform scales can be used across a range of industries, from cider makers to waste disposal plants.

Improve workflow

With platform scales, many processes are far easier - from checking outgoing goods are the correct quantities, to ensuring productivity is high on the production lines of your factory. For example, they can be used to weigh palletised items quickly and easily (ramps/pallet truck); can be sunk into the ground as a pit mounted scale and therefore left in situ when not in use (i.e no time is required to set up the scale for each time it's used).

For pallet weighing, our Marsden Mild Steel U-Frame Pallet Scale is easy to load and unload with any forklift.

Help comply with regulations

The introduction of the SOLAS regulation for container weighing has meant another type of platform scale is required for goods weighing. Verified weighers can purchase the Marsden platform scale with the DI-620P indicator, in order to print out data using the built-in printer. Also, multiple weights can be tallied up through the accumulation function, meaning you’ll get an exact idea of the item weights being loaded into the container.

Marsden also offers Trade Approved scales for industries where the weight is linked to the price of the scale. Industrial platform scales can also be used to weigh goods as it's loaded onto a lorry - therefore, complying with road weight limits and other weighing regulations.

Pair the Marsden IP68 Platform Scale, pictured above, with the I-100SS-APP to make it Trade Approved, which is ideal for all warehouses and factory areas - and the IP65-rated indicator can be used in humid, damp or dusty environments. The indicator is splashproof and can be wiped down.

Easily record weight data

By transferring data to a spreadsheet or database, or printing the data off using an attached printer, retrospectively referencing the weight of items and making comparisons is made easy. Recording weight may also be required to show compliance.

Add data transfer capabilities to the Marsden platform scales with our JIK indicator. This comes with an optional RS-232 port, and when purchased with a Scale to PC USB Lead, weight data can be transferred to a spreadsheet or database.

Watch the video on how data can be recorded via RS-232 and Scale to PC USB Lead to see how easily it can be done.
