Ever wondered how axle weigh pads work?
Axle weighers, like Marsden’s AP-200, are a vital piece of equipment if you want to keep your goods vehicles safe, efficient and legal. The Marsden AP-200 is portable and easy to use - plus, it allows you to record all the weight data of a wagon, and the date and time of the weighing.
Stainless steel weighing scales are great for three reasons: They look great (and for those in the food and drink industry, they look much more hygienic than their plastic counterparts). They are much more durable and longer lasting - and able to withstand regular cleaning.
And finally, due to their IP rating (ingress protection - more on that below), they can be wash-proof right up to waterproof - perfect for damp, humid and even wet working environments.
Currently, the weighing industry is regulated by the European Directive 2009/23/EC for non-automatic weighing instruments (NAWI). On April 20th, 2016, this will be replaced by new European Directive 2014/31/EU.
This change is part of the ‘new legislative framework’ - and will affect weighing scales suppliers and manufacturers like Marsden - and, to a much lesser degree, those who purchase and/or use our weighing scales.
It would be easy for many to think that body fat is something you shouldn’t have, but of course, that’s not the case.
Body fat is needed to keep us warm and store essential vitamins in our body. Too much of it, though, can lead to heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure.
Body composition scales are a key piece of equipment for any healthcare provider, gym or sports centre or just a dedicated fitness fanatic. By simply standing on these scales, you can generate a complete picture of your body’s profile.
We have four Marsden brand body composition scales in our range - and even though they all generate similar results they also have different features that set them apart from one another.
Since we received our first batch of Smart Diet Scale samples just before Christmas, we’ve been getting it out there and front of the people who’ll use it most.
In particular, the Smart Diet Scale - a brand new diet monitoring weighing scale from the US - has been a big hit with bodybuilders. Check out the image left from Instagram: a post from a popular bodybuilder, Louise Rogers (Instagram name louise_ifbbpro).
Last year, we launched a splash-proof gym scale for leisure centres, swimming pools and health centres.
The M-160 Gym & Fitness Scale is a splashproof weighing solution that can handle wet feet, humid environments and regular washing down. It’s built from stainless steel and comes with an IP (Ingress Protection) rating of 67 - just one rating off being fully waterproof.
The big news for GPs this week - and anyone who believes that steps need to be taken to curb the UK obesity epidemic - is the proposal that GPs are paid for measuring BMI.
In order to better track obesity levels - and, of course, help curb obesity, it has been proposed by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) that family doctors should receive a financial incentive for recording the BMI of patients aged 18 and over.
