  • BW Series Analytical Laboratory Balance

    What is the BW Series?

The Shimadzu BW Series is a high accuracy balance scale with capacities available upto 52kg. This compact, precision weighing scale comes with WindowsDirect software for sending weight information to a PC. It is identical to the Shimadzu BX Series, except the BW Series features internal calibration to keep your balance accurate.

How accurate is the BW Series?

Both the BW and BX Series balances, with their 345mm x 250mm pan size, are the largest of the balance scales in our Shimadzu range. They also have higher capacities, with a capacity as high as 52kg available.

Accuracy is 0.1g or 1, depending on the option you choose from the drop-down menu above. UniBloc single cell technology ensures weight readings are highly accurate and reliable.

How can I record weight information from the BW Series?

The BW Series, like all the Shimadzu balances in the Marsden range, comes with WindowsDirect software. This allows you to send weight information from the balance to your PC simply by pressing ‘Print.’ No additional software is required, just an I/O to RS-232 cable.

Why should I choose the BW Series?

Choose the BW for highly accurate precision weighing in the paint, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. This scale has a choice of capacities and graduations, to 0.1g, with capacities upto 52kg.

This balance features UniBloc single cell technology for reliable, high precision weighing, and internal calibration means your balance scale will stay reliably accurate for many years to come. Calibration reports can also be created, with date and time, and these can be output via the RS-232.

Different weighing modes can be selected when using the BW - this means you can choose the ideal weighing mode depending on what you’re using the scale for, and the environment. The BW has a full range Tare, and the Hi/Go/Lo function means target weights can be selected to help you get the exact measurement you need. The display shows when you have reached your target weight.

Data can be transferred directly from the scale to a PC using the Windows Direct software included. Simply and quickly transfer all weighing data direct from the scale to your PC, and into a document like Excel. No additional software is needed.

  • UW Series Analytical Laboratory Balance

    What is the UW Series?

The Shimadzu UW Series is a high accuracy analytical balance scale, designed to measure small capacities in the in the sub-milligram range. This precision scale is available in accuracies as low as 0.001g (1mg) and includes WindowsDirect to allow easy transfer of weight data from the balance to a PC. This analytical balance can self calibrate.

How does this balance self calibrate?

This scale will calibrate itself automatically - ensuring this analytical balance is as accurate as the day it was purchased. There are three ways the balance calibrates automatically, including pre-set times and touch-key calibration.

Pre-set time calibration allows you to programme up to three times throughout the day that you would like the balance to run a calibration check. Touch-key calibration allows you to simply press a button and a calibration will run.

Regular calibration is important with a balance scale of this accuracy as even temperature changes can affect accuracy.

How can weighing accuracy be improved with this scale?

This precision balance is available with extremely accurate increments - as low as 1mg - but a number of features help improve weighing accuracy.

The Target Weighing feature allows you to set a target weight, with the UW indicates clearly when this target is reached. The Hi/Go/Low feature allows you to see clearly when you are within a set range, below it or above it.

Unibloc single block technology provides high performance, precision weighing with instant results.

How can this balance record weight readings?

Every analytical balance scale in our range comes with Windows Direct software built in as standard. All you need to link your scale to a Windows-equipped computer is a cable. Simply connect the analytical balance scale and your Windows computer via an I/O to RS-232 cable (not included) and with a simple click of the ‘Print’ key, the weight displayed on the scale will be copied into any programme you choose to use. No additional software is required.

Why should I choose the UW Series?

Choose the Shimadzu UW Series for ultra-precise weighing of the smallest capacities within laboratories and medical environments.

Each scale comes with a weighing chamber, big enough to allow easy measurement of even tall flasks. The chamber is an airtight enclosure which prevents dust from collecting within the scale and ensures air currents in the room do not affect the analytical balance while in operation. The metal housing of this scale makes it resistant to organic solvents.

As well as the above features this scale can switch units, including gram, milligram, percentage conversion, piece counting, carat, pound, ounce and many more. A specific gravity kit is also pre-installed which can transform the balance into a dedicated instrument for measuring specific gravity or density.

This scale has a bright backlit LCD display which makes the display easy to read even in difficult lighting conditions. For more information about the features and uses of this or any of the other analytical balances in our range, please send us a message. What are Shimadzu lab balances?

Marsden’s range of electronic analytical balance scales from Shimadzu are designed for precision weighing of very small items. Most popular as laboratory scales, the analytical balances on this page measure capacities in the sub-milligram range, and can be found in use by pharmaceutical companies and also hospitals and veterinary surgeries for weighing out medication.

What can lab balances be used for?

Each one of the digital balances in our range is ideal for when extreme high accuracy is essential - and when the recording of each weight needs to be precise and easy. Select from analytical balances with automatic calibration, casing to protect from external factors like dust and wind and temperature/environment detection.

Most of the analytical balances in our range are available as either Class I or Class II Approved - as accurate and as precise as they come.

Where can I find out more?
