What is the M-420?
The Marsden M-420 is a lightweight, portable adult floor scale. The scale is Class III Approved and has a 220kg capacity and readings to the nearest 50g. This version of the scale features a white base for use by people with dementia and visual/spatial impairments.
What is a Class III Approved scale?
The Marsden M-420 is Class III Approved scale which means it has been built, tested, verified and calibrated to a specific standard. The NAWI directive oversees this standard and states all scales ‘used in the determination of mass in the practice of medicine for the purpose of monitoring, diagnosis and medical treatment’ must be Class III Approved. As Approved scales are subject to rigorous testing by an EU notified body, the user is assured that their scale is accurate and reliable.
Why is a white scale ideal for weighing patients with dementia?
With a white base, this version of Marsden’s M-420 (and this version of our M-650 wheelchair scale) are designed for dementia patients to make them feel more comfortable in their surroundings. The pattern, colour or texture of an object can increase stress and the risk of falls, which means that white scales are a more comfortable and safer alternative to the traditional black surface of many weighing scales.

Who uses the white M-420?
The white-tiled M-420 has been built with patients with dementia and visual-spatial issues in mind. For patients with these conditions, the white tile reduced risks of falls and stress which may be caused by a traditional black surface. This version of the M-420 is particularly popular with care homes and respite centres.
Why should I choose the M-420?
The Marsden M-420 is a highly robust and lightweight portable scale.
The scale has Hold, Tare and BMI. The weight reading can be reversed on the display, to suit which way you are viewing it, and a tap-on function (press your foot on the scale to power on) means you don’t need to bend down to switch the M-420 on.
The scale has Bluetooth connectivity available. Marsden does not provide software for receiving weight data from your scale. The M-420 is covered by the Marsden 4 Year Warranty.
