What is the M-650W?
The Marsden M-650W is a high capacity wheelchair scale with wireless connectivity (Bluetooth or Wifi) for sending patient weight data to a PC or database. Micro USB connectivity is also available. It is Marsden’s best-selling wheelchair scale and has a large weighing platform to accommodate almost any wheelchair. The scale has a 300kg capacity and is Class III Approved and MDD Approved.
How do wireless scales work?
Marsden wireless scales are fitted with either a Bluetooth or Wifi module. With the patient and wheelchair on the scale, the weight reading can be transmitted from the scale to another device.
Currently, Marsden does not provide software for receiving data from wireless scales, however we do provide support and guidance to those wanting to develop their own data capture software. Marsden wireless scales are used by many telehealth providers across the UK and Europe.
Wireless scales help to streamline the recording of patient weight information and are an essential consideration if you intend to become a paperless establishment. In particular, in the UK, they can contribute to the NHS’ paperless target.
Should I choose Bluetooth or Wifi?
The choice between Bluetooth and Wifi connectivity depends on your needs. Both options of Marsden wireless scale provide different benefits to the user.
Wifi scales are popular in hospitals. Wifi is fast, secure and as many new hospitals are built with Wifi in mind, they are easy to set up and connect to patient records.
Though Wifi scales are more effective over long distances, creating software and connecting it to Bluetooth scales tends to be easier. Marsden Bluetooth scales are used by telehealth initiatives in the UK and Europe, where weight and BMI information can be sent to capturing software quickly and easily.

Why should I choose the M-650W?
Choose the M-650W if you are a care home, hospital or obesity clinic wanting to weigh wheelchair users and wirelessly send weight readings to a patient database in order to streamline processes and become paperless.
This wheelchair platform can accommodate almost any wheelchair and has a gentle incline on the ramps to enable ease of use. The wheelchair scale is a one piece unit build to withstand years of use, and castors and a handle make the scale portable.
The indicator for the M-650W is very easy to use, and with a full numeric keypad for entering the patient’s height it can automatically calculate BMI. Weight, height and BMI are then shown on the two clear digital screens.
The scale has Tare and Preset Tare functions so that the weight of the wheelchair can be deducted leaving you with a weight reading for just the patient.. The scale weighs to a capacity of 300kg in 100g increments and has a rechargeable battery offering over 40 hours of continuous use.
The M-650 is widely used in Care Homes across the UK. To find out more about Marsden wheelchair scales, or how to set up Marsden wireless scales, call our team on 01709 364296.
