What is the M-600W?
The Marsden M-600W is a lightweight, easy to use weighing scale, that allows patients to be weighed whilst in a hoist. It has wireless (Bluetooth or Wifi) connectivity to send patient weight information to a central database. This scale has a capacity of 200kg and is accurate to 100g.
How can you weigh someone in a hoist?
Using a hoist weighing attachment like the M-600W means a bedbound patient can be weighed in a hoist.
A hoist weighing attachment is an inexpensive way to weigh bedbound patients, without the expenditure of a bed scale. The M-600W simply attaches to the spreader bars of the hoist using the links, and then the sling for the patient can be attached to the hooks on the bottom of the M-600W.
It is a MHRA requirement that hoist weighing attachments are approved under the Medical Devices Directive (93/42/EEC). The Marsden M-600, M-600W and M-605 are MDD Approved, making them the only hoist weighing attachments that are legal for use in the UK.
How do wireless scales work?
A Bluetooth or Wifi module is fitted to Marsden wireless scales. When the hoist scale is in use, the weight reading will transmit from the scale to another device.
Marsden currently does not provide software for receiving data from wireless scales, but we can assist with setting up and configuring your own systems to capture the weight data from the scale.
Should I choose Bluetooth or Wifi?
Marsden wireless scales can be ordered with either Bluetooth or Wifi connectivity. Which option you need depends on your location and requirements.
Hospitals choose Wifi scales because it’s fast, secure and new premises are built with Wifi in mind. It is easy to set up and connect to patient record systems.
Bluetooth connectivity is not as suitable for use over long distance as Wifi, but creating software and connecting to it to Bluetooth scales is easier. Marsden bluetooth scales have formed part of telehealth initiatives across the UK and Europe. The simple protocols mean that weight and BMI information can be sent to purpose-built capturing software quickly and easily.

Why should I choose the M-600W?
Choose the M-600W when you need to weigh bedbound patients, and automate weight recording processes. You may also want to choose this scale if you wish to, or have recently become, a paperless organisation.
The M-600 is designed for use within the care home and by the community health visitor. A well-padded carry case makes the hoist scale genuinely portable from home to home. The clips on the scale make it very easy to move from hoist to hoist to weigh the patient.
This scale has a capacity of 200kg and is accurate to 100g. It features our easy to use indicator with full numeric keypad, which means the patient’s BMI will be automatically calculated when their height is entered. Two clear digital displays make reading weight, height and BMI easy.
This scale is powered by a rechargeable battery.
Along with Bluetooth and Wifi, Micro USB connectivity is also available. Select using the drop down menu above.
