    What is the M-550BT?

    The M-550BT an entry-level Class III Approved medical floor scale with Bluetooth connectivity. It’s our most affordable telehealth scale, and with simple features and a bright, clear display, it’s very easy to use. Due to its Class III certification, this product only weighs in Kg/g.

    What is a Class III Approved scale?

    Class III Approved scales are built, tested, verified and calibrated to meet a specific standard. The NAWI directive has stated that all scales which are ‘used in the determination of mass in the practice of medicine for the purpose of monitoring, diagnosis and medical treatment’ must be Class III Approved. An Approved scale is rigorously tested by an EU notified body to assure the user of accuracy and reliability.

    What are Bluetooth scales?

    Marsden Bluetooth scales are medically approved weighing scales fitted with a Bluetooth module, that allows the scale to send weight (and height and BMI) data wirelessly to an external device.

    Marsden Bluetooth scales are most commonly used in telehealth initiatives, where the simple protocols have meant they can be set up to transmit patient weight to purpose-built capturing software, quickly and easily. It allows a patient to stay at home without having to visit their GP or hospital, with their weight remotely monitored when required. Currently, Marsden does not supply any software to capture the data from the scale.

    Many businesses, hospitals and Trusts are now purchasing scales with wireless connectivity in order to ‘future-proof’ them.

    Who uses the M-550BT?

    This is Marsden’s most affordable Class III Approved scale with Bluetooth, ideal for GP surgeries as well as telehealth initiatives to aid weighing in the community.

    The affordable price has meant that many GP surgeries have been able future-proof their weighing equipment, preparing for when patient data recording is wireless. The M-550BT is also perfect for telehealth initiatives, allowing patients to be monitored in their own home and their weight readings transmitted to a central monitoring station.     What is the M-651?

    The Marsden M-651 is a Class III Approved scale for weighing patients in wheelchairs. The ramps of the platform have a gentle incline, making it easier to push a wheelchair onto the scale for weighing. This model has the indicator mounted on a column, for much easier reading of the patient’s weight. The M-650 has a 300kg capacity.

    How can you weigh someone in a wheelchair?

    There are a number of Marsden weighing scales suitable for patients who cannot stand.

    Hoist scales like the Marsden M-600 Hoist Weighing Attachment allows you to weigh a patient whilst they are in a hoist. Alternatively, if the patient is bedbound, a bed scale such as the M-950 can be used.

    A chair scale - a wheelchair with an inbuilt weighing scale - can be used, but wheelchair scales like the M-651 allow the patient to stay in their own wheelchair whilst being weighed.

    The M-651 is a semi-permanent wheelchair scale. It is not as portable as the Marsden M-610, however it is fitted with a handle and wheels to make transporting the scale easier. Because of its large, low profile base, it can accommodate almost any wheelchair. The patient can simply be pushed onto the scale, and an accurate weight reading taken.

    To get an even more accurate weight reading for the patient, Tare/Preset Tare can be used to deduct the weight of the wheelchair from the display.

  • Marsden M-700 3-in-1 Baby Toddler & Adult Scale

    What is the M-700?

    The Marsden M-700 is a Class III Approved, 3-in-1 baby, toddler and adult scale, with handrails, seat and removable baby bowl. The M-700 measures a patient’s BMI (when standing on the platform), and weighs to an accuracy of 20g (for babies and toddlers, using the baby bowl or the seat) and 50g (for older children or adults standing on the platform). The capacity of this weighing scale is 150kg (60kg for babies and toddlers).

    What are the benefits of a 3-in-1 scale?
