  • Marsden M-125 Column Scale with Manual Height Measure

    What is the M-125?

The Marsden M-125 is an entry level Class III Approved column scale. A manual height measure is fitted meaning height and weight can be measured in one step, and BMI and BSA (Body Surface Area) calculated. The M-125 weighs to the nearest 100g upto a maximum capacity of 250kg, and the height measure has 1mm increments upto a maximum height of 2m.

Why do I need a scale with a height measure?

A weighing scale with a height measure means you can weigh and measure a patient at the same time.

With the M-125’s BMI and BSA functions, you can simply enter the patient’s height from the reading on the measure and the scale will calculate their BMI. With one extra touch of a button the patient’s BSA will display, too.

You can read more about BSA here.

Why would I need to use a Class III Approved scale?

All scales ‘used in the determination of mass in the practice of medicine for the purpose of monitoring, diagnosis and medical treatment’ should be Class III Approved, in accordance with the NAWI directive. Class III Approved scales are used by hospitals, GP surgeries, clinics and pharmacies.

Every Class III Approved scale is built, tested, verified and calibrated to meet a specific standard. Class III Approved medical scales undergo far more testing than non approved scales, providing assurance to the user that they are accurate, reliable and provide repeatable results - essential for medical weighing.

    Who uses the M-125?

The M-125 is ideal for GP surgeries, health centres and clinics, and renal, oncology and other areas where clear BMI, BSA and weight information is needed. Outpatient departments can benefit from the easy to read weight display, 250kg capacity and simple height measure.

Why should I order the M-125?

If you need a professional, Class III Approved / MDD Approved weighing scale with simple weight, height and BMI functions, choose this M-125.

This scale has Hold and Tare features. A large 3cm LCD display, fitted to a column and situated at waist level, means weight readings are clear and easy to read. The scale is powered by replaceable batteries, or can be powered from the mains. Six AA batteries last upto 180 hours.

The M-125's base has wheels fitted for easy movement of the scale between rooms, and the column and base are robust enough to withstand many years of use.

This scale is covered by the Marsden 4 Year Warranty.

  • Marsden M-125 Column Scale

    What is the M-125?

The Marsden M-125 is an entry level Class III Approved column scale. It features a completely redesigned, easy to use indicator, a 250kg capacity and weight readings to the nearest 100g. The scale can be used to calculate BMI and BSA.

    What is BSA?

BSA, or Body Surface Area, is the calculated surface area of the human body. BSA is commonly used by NHS DEXA scanners to help calculate body composition and dosages for anti-cancer agents. In fact, it is an important way to calculate dosages for many medicines.

BSA is often recommended as the principal basis for drug dosage as the rate of metabolism or redistribution of a drug is proportional to metabolic rate, which in turn reflects heat losses, which as for any warm object, are generally proportional to surface area.

There are many different formulas used to calculate BSA, but DuBois, the most popular and believed to be the most accurate, is the formula used by this scale.

We believe Marsden is the first digital weighing scales manufacturer in the world to include a BSA calculation function on a weighing scale. You can read more about BSA here.
