    What are Trade Approved scales?

Trade Approved scales can be used in any application where the price of an item is based on its weight. It is essential to use Trade Approved scales where a transaction takes place based on weight - this is a legal requirement, whether it is a sale to the public or another business. Trade Approved scales - also known as commercial scales, legal for trade scales or stamped scales - undergo thousands of tests to ensure readings are accurate and repeatable. Two Trade Approved scales weighing them same item should give exactly the same reading.

  • Marsden V-100 Veterinary Scale

    What is the V-100?

The V-100 is Marsden’s best-selling veterinary scale. It is a 100kg capacity veterinary scale, perfect for small to medium sized pets, particularly cats and dogs. The scale features Tare and Hold functions and a clear digital weight display.

    Why are animals weighed?

The weight of your pet can be the earliest and sometimes the only sign that it is poorly. Overweight or obese animals can encounter breathing problems as it can be more difficult to move the excess weight. Veterinary specialists describe pet obesity as ‘the number one issue facing vets’. In cats, hepatic lipidosis is a liver disease which is associated with pet obesity.

Why should I choose the V-100?

There is a reason why the V-100 is the most popular of all Marsden’s vet scales. It is easy to use, accommodates a wide variety of animal shapes and sizes, and no other scale of this quality can beat it for price.

The clear LCD display reading on the V-100 Veterinary Scale can also be changed from pounds to kilos. The Tare function allows you to remove unwanted weight from the reading, like a blanket. Hold stabilises the weight reading on the display if the animal is moving around.

The V-100 is powered by just two AAA batteries. The surface is non-slip for easier pet weighing.

This scale is used by veterinary practices, breeders and owners.

  • Marsden B-100 Waterproof Bench Scale

What is the B-100 Bench Scale?

The Marsden B-100 Bench Scale is our best-selling stainless steel scale. Truly waterproof, its IP68 rating means it can withstand some of the most punishing environments, and can be hosed down at the end of the day. It is powered by internal rechargeable battery (providing at least 40 hours’ continuous use), and has a choice of capacities from 3kg x 0.2g to 30kg x 5g.

What does the IP rating mean?

The B-100 is IP68 rated. The IP rating is referring to the scale’s level of protection. The first digit (e.g. ‘6’) refers to scale’s protection to dust. The second digit (in this case ‘8’) denotes the level of protection against water and other liquids.

IP65 rated scales are protected against moisture when wiped down with a damp cloth. Scales which are IP67 are splashproof, protected against moisture and can be washed down. IP68 scales, like the B-100, are waterproof and can survive in punishing environments. More information can be found here.

What are stainless steel bench scales used for?

Stainless steel bench scales, particularly the B-100, are commonly used in the food and drinks industry. The IP68 rating makes this scale ideal for use in bakeries, breweries and fishmongers.

Marsden B-100 are used for many different purposes, but will typically be used to weigh produce and ingredients. Their high accuracy, clear display and the fact that they can be washed down means they are highly suited to these tasks.

Why should I choose the B-100?

Choose the B-100 if you need a fully waterproof, highly accurate scale that’s easy to use.

This bench scale’s entire casing is stainless steel. It is powered by an internal rechargeable battery. A mains lead is included, which can be stored inside the scale.

The B-100 has a bright red LED digital display both front and rear and a full range Tare. As a durable, waterproof solution that can be used as a counting scale, check weighing scale, kitchen scale, parcel scale or lab scale, the B-100 represents fantastic value for money.

This scale complies to Reg (EC) 1935/2004 (Materials & Articles intended to come into contact with food).

Watch the video above to see the B-100 at JH Mann Fishmongers in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. The B-100 is even dropped into a bucket of water to test its IP68 rating.

Please note: If you are weighing an item to determine its price, Trade Approved weighing scales must be used. The B-100 is not Trade Approved, but you can find Trade Approved scales here.

  • Marsden B-100 Waterproof Bench Scale (Non-Rechargeable)

What is the B-100 Bench Scale?

The B-100 is Marsden’s best-selling waterproof weighing scale. The IP68 certification means this bench scale can withstand use in some of the most punishing locations. This version is powered by non-rechargeable batteries meaning there is no need to recharge the scale when battery power is low or find a mains socket for charging - simply replace the 6x AA batteries.

What does the IP rating mean?

The B-100 Bench Scale is IP68 rated. The scale’s IP rating refers to the scale’s level of protection. The first digit (e.g. ‘6’) shows the scale’s protection to dust. The second digit (in this case ‘8’) denotes the level of protection against water and other liquids.

IP65 rated scales are protected against moisture when wiped down with a damp cloth. Scales which are IP67 are splashproof, protected against moisture and can be washed down. IP68 scales are waterproof and can survive in harsh environments. More information can be found here.

    Who uses the non-rechargeable B-100?

We launched the non-rechargeable B-100 following feedback from customers. Some users - like those who are using the B-100 out in a field for many hours (for example, fruit picking) - found returning the B-100 back to their base to be recharged was inconvenient.

They needed an accurate, waterproof scale that could be used for many hours at a time. Then, when the battery power did run out, instead of looking for a socket to recharge the scale, they could simply replace the batteries and continue to use the scale.

Fully charged, 6x AA batteries provide at least 200 hours of continuous use.

    Why should I choose the non-rechargeable B-100?

Choose this version of the B-100 if you need a waterproof, high accuracy bench scale that can be used anywhere, without needing to be recharged when its battery runs flat.

Just like our standard rechargeable battery-powered B-100, this version also has a bright red LED display front and rear. There are also full range Tare and Counting features, and a hi/lo alarm. Capacity options are 3kg, 7.5kg, 15kg and 30kg, giving you accuracies of 0.2g, 0.5g, 1g, 2g and 5g respectively - select from the drop-down menu above.

Please note: the mains adaptor from the standard B-100 cannot be used with the non-rechargeable B-100.

You can see the B-100 in the video above, where this IP68 scale proves its waterproof credentials by being submerged in a bucket of water.

Floor scales like the MSS-I-400 are typically available in a range of sizes, with different capacity and graduation options to choose from.

You should also decide if the scale is suitable for the environment that it is to be used in - for example, if the work area is wet or very dusty, a scale with an IP rating is advised. The MSS-I-400 does have a stainless steel wipedown pan however, which protects the mild steel base. IP-certified waterproof scales can be found here.
