How to use crane scales

Though platform scales and pallet truck scales are suitable for a great amount of heavy duty industrial weighing - sometimes they are not the most appropriate solution. Which is where crane scales come in.

Crane scales are used to weigh objects suspended from a fixed position.

Crane scales are equipped to deal with large industrial weighing applications. Marsden crane scales are capable of weighing up to 20,000kg.

By using a crane scale you can ensure that your goods are measured accurately to ensure your vehicles are not overloaded. But how are they used? This blog post explains.

Why should I choose a crane scale?

When choosing an industrial weighing scale it’s important to consider these 7 steps. It is vitally important to make sure the crane fits the scale.

Crane scales are perfect for weighing heavy goods. The Marsden OCS-Z can weigh items up to 20 tonnes in weight - which is greater than almost any off-the-shelf Marsden industrial scale. Crane scales may also be better suited to weighing goods which are an awkward shape - sometimes platform scales are not suitable for this use, and it is easier to suspend the weight.

Unlike platform scales, crane scales do not take up floor space. As it can be left in situ when not in use it does not disrupt day-to-day warehouse operations.

Potentially crane scales can also save labour costs and time. Small crane scales are built for portability, so the scale can be taken to the item, rather than taking the item to the scale. Further the remote control feature means the scale can be operated from a distance.

Ultimately, there are a lot of advantages to using crane scales, which is why they're so popular in the industrial setting.
