What is a retail scale?
Retail weighing scales are specialist industrial scales that are used to calculate an item's price based on its weight.
Also referred to as price computing scales, shop scales or commercial scales. Retail scales will typically have a digital display on the front and rear to make it easy for the user and the customer to see the reading, as well as internal memory for PLUs (price look-ups). Our range of scales are battery-powered, making them quick and convenient to use.
Retail scales must always be Trade Approved to meet legal requirements.
What are Trade Approved scales?
A Trade Approved scale must be used when the price of an item is based on its weight. This is a legal requirement in most countries around the world, and since a retail scale is used to weigh items to determine the price the customer pays, it should be Trade Approved.
Trade Approved Scales undergo stricter testing and calibration procedures than standard scales and therefore deliver a higher degree of reliability. Trade Approved scales are also referred to as Class III Approved scales, Legal For Trade scales and stamped scales.

Waterproof retail scales
With a waterproof keypad, the Digi DS-781 retail scale is more durable than most other scales. The Digi DS-781SS is made from stainless steel and is fully waterproof, so suitable for harsh, wet conditions. It’s most commonly used by butchers and fishmongers.
PLU Retail Scales
All of our retail scales have a PLU function saving the price or weights of your most popular items. The DS-781 and the DS-781SS have 99 PLUs each.
Professional retail scales
The DS-781SS provides the most professional image to your customers, its stainless steel casing can be washed down, and a clear, bight LCD display front and rear provides clear prices for items placed on the scale.
